Chrontel announced three video ICs for low power consumption for mobile Internet devices, systems, netbook, tablet PCs, portable book readers and smart phones. Designed specifically to interface with a wide range of host processors, including the popular ARM mobile processors, mixed signal Chrontel CH7033, CH7034 and CH7035 ICs convert and transmit a variety of digital video formats for external monitors, digital TVs and embedded preview panes.
The CH7033 is a video encoder designed for external high definition video displays using HDMI, DVI, VGA and YPbPr. The pins HDMI/DVI output on the CH7033 can be multiplexed with VGA/YPbPr output through a software controlled switch. The CH7034 was designed for mobile systems that require encoding for built-in LVDS monitors that are connected to a portable device via a hinge. The CH7034 also offers external analog simultaneous RGB or YPrPb component output for HDTV and VGA displays. The CH7035 is a cost effective HDMI transmitter.
All three devices have an advanced scaling mechanism that supports HDTV resolutions up to 1080p, and all three incorporate converting advanced frame rate support refresh rates of 60 fps at 1080p. The CH7033 and CH7035 also include: SPDIF and I2S digital audio.
"Netbooks, smart phones, tablets and other highly mobile platforms are trying to drive rapid growth worldwide," said Dr. David Soo, Chrontel President and CEO. "Our clients need a portfolio of devices for encoding and streaming video that enable these mobile devices drive external monitors and televisions so that everyone in the room can participate in video experience. If the required output is HDMI, DVI, VGA, LVDS or even Chrontel offers proven solutions and low cost that delivers exactly the ability system manufactures video interface right. "
All three devices are designed to integrate flexibly with the wide variety of processors (system-on-chip) SoC found in mobile systems, smart phone, tablet and netbook. CH7033 devices/34/35 accept graphical data input through interface programmable 24-bit/18-bit/16-bit/16-bit/12-bit/8-bit that supports video formats RGB and YCbCr in a variety of resolutions and entries up to 1366 x 768. All three devices also incorporate an internal frame buffer for SDRAM that allows image rotation/zoom upsizing, downsizing and 180/90/270 pictures.
