EMC-Cisco cloud joint venture selects Texas for CA - Information Management

Management information online, March 17, 2011 Mel DuvallVirtual Computing environment (VCE), a joint venture of cloud launched by EMC and Cisco has selected Richardson, Texas, to serve as the company headquarters.The decision comes after the announcement of the Texas Enterprise Fund, a State Economic Development Fund, that it would provide an incentive of 2.45 million for startup. In return, VCE said it will invest approximately 35 million dollars in capital spending in the region and create nearly 430 local jobs.VCE Director General Michael Iris, "Texas is to create a conducive environment for an economy of solid state with initiatives like the Texas Enterprise Fund which give companies such as VCE attractive incentives to invest here for growth", said in a statement.AdvertisingVCE was launched by EMC and Cisco in November 2009 and also includes investments from Intel and VMware. Its mandate is to provide solutions and information technology products that rely on cloud computing to improve the cost and delivery.VCE to locate its headquarters in Richardson, it will work with the University of Texas, Dallas, recruit employees for the installation.A spokesman said the Dallas Business Journal VCE 430 jobs created in Richardson be jobs, transfers to other locations. The company currently employs approximately 800 offices in Texas, Massachusetts, California and Ireland.
