Captain America: 19 save super soldier the day July - MMOMFG (blog)

With the upcoming film Captain America, it is no wonder that is a video game has released are to go along with it. Captain America: Super soldier will be offered to Xbox 360, Wii and the DS platforms on the PS3. Joystiq reported that the game is expected to be on 19 July, the three days before the movie is released to be. As with the most game adaptations of films, most likely not the best are this one it could be given to later release. It seems like film get games pushed too early and ironed many wrinkles not have out a chance get. But then again, Sega is at the top of this, so it can be entertaining.

Now the screens decent graphics and some fun looks quite promising, with some taking place Nazi roughhousing. But then again, a lot of things can a look pretty when on the perpendicular (read: bad self-shots for MySpace). We have to wait to see if this game and movie, July will be the value of every time and money.

Do not cut the cable until you read this-Chicago Tribune

• You are essentially choosing, say, Vudu versus Amazon vs. iTunes, which is difficult to do when their prices and contents may vary, depending on its agreements with the studios.

• The shows are available approximately 24 hours after they air on TV, then you must notify your friends not to speak of a show that you haven't seen yet.

• The video is compressed, full HD mode is not likely. But with rented and acquired shows, quality is still good — DVD quality or better.

• When something lacks, there's nobody to ask for help. You must read books, search the Web for answers to their problems, wade through Web forums asking questions, checking back later to see if your questions were answered. Meanwhile, your TV viewing is overturned.

Apple TV

Pro: of the three boxes that we tested, it is easier to configure and use.

CON: unable to acquire video iTunes of Apple TV; you have to use your computer to purchase and download content to Apple TV.

Boxee box from D-Link

Pro: comes with a Web browser, easily bringing the Internet to the TV. That makes it better for those who don't mind digging around all the videos that the Web has to offer and see it on the TV screen. Additionally, Vudu movie service is not available on Apple TV or Roku.

Cons: much of the content is really a simple link to a site like crackle.com, so you end up using the TV to show video Web Web resolution.

Roku

Pro: Amazon and Hulu Plus compare very well to iTunes of Apple TV's Hulu Plus lets you watch many shows today.

Cons: it cannot stream video from your computer, so that clip on your hard disk of 80 Grandma's birthday party? You cannot use Roku that play on your TV.

What you need to switch

• An indoor antenna that amplifies TV signals, such as 1440 RCA, at around $ 40. It can lie flat on a table or hang on the wall and connects to TV to bring HDTV and other signs of TV stations nearby. Warning: lightning and other conditions can affect how well come the signs and the construction of their House, the location and proximity of tall buildings or high ground will affect the performance of the antenna. You may have to keep trying until you find one that antennas work. Bonus: the HDTV signal is no longer being compressed by your cable/satellite box, so that the image will be too.

• High speed Internet, for, say, $ 50 per month.

Signature • Netflix ($ 7.99 per month) or Hulu Plus ($ 7.99 per month) or both (about $ 16 per month).

• An Internet TV box, Apple TV, Roku and Boxee box. It displays your signature on your TV. His sons PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 (spend an extra $ 30 to $ 40 for the remote that works with these videogame systems) will work too great, but good luck share it among players and observers of the TV at home.

• Computer, preferably a laptop that will be in the same room as the TV is connected to the Internet.

You should change?

Somehow, cable can actually be cheaper — and less of a headache — than going without for example, if you watch a lot of different TV shows, your cable bill will be cheaper than using Internet TV to subscribe to the shows you want to watch.

If you and the kids want to watch TV on the Internet at the same time, good luck: "hardly anyone has enough bandwidth to make streaming for more than one device at the same time," notes David Wertheimer, CEO and Executive Director of the Entertainment Technology Center at the University of Southern California. "The hype ' cable-cutting ' is totally exaggerated. "

Hands on Opera Mobile, Opera Mini 6 11-CNET (blog)

Opera Mobile is optimized for the tablets. We tried it on the Motorola Xoom.(Credit: Opera)

Opera last week announced it would launch two new mobile browser at CTIA – Opera Mobile and Opera Mini 6 11 – but when it came to the new and improved features, mostly silent.

We're lucky to get into the hands of the Assembly Preview before performances and can share much more about what is in store for the Opera in mobile phones and tablets.

Starting with the interface, the browser Opera Gets a bump on the sophistication of the already graphically rich display. Opera faithful have some subtle changes--to give up his header shaved the Opera browser, icon settings changed in the Opera "O" icon, and search engine selector also stepped into the search field.

The sharing menu shortcut is a new feature to hit duo of the browser. Press the "O" icon screen options, arrives. In addition to bookmarks, history, settings, downloads, and so is the ability to share via email, text, Twitter, Facebook and other social networks.

You can also pinch zoom across the Board on all compatible devices supported by both versions of the browsers. Click to zoom in before sometimes had to. Opera says that strengthened also scrolling, panning and zooming.

Opera is also jumping on the Tablet crazy tuning Mini and mobile for a larger screen of the tablet. The Motorola Xoom (running Android 3.0 honeycomb) that it loaded, Opera Mobile looks almost the same as on Android smartphone, except that the navigation bar moves up.

Overall Opera worked quickly and smoothly, with only two exceptions. The Opera had no problem loading Web pages, but we found (Chow.com) whose loading width must have confused a browser because the image of rhythmically pulled back and then expanded, until we're tapped. (Chow.com is part of CBS Interactive, which also publishes CNET.) Further, while the problem is that Opera Mobile has not been properly loaded the Web page we need to verify at CNET public Wi-Fi. We had to open the default browser, before we can take advantage of the Opera. It is a challenge for Opera for years, and one space in its service, which does not affect most people, demonstrates the weakness of that browser of this caliber should.

Opera Mini 6-faster, more condensed version, the proxy will be available on Android, BlackBerry, Symbian/Series 60 and Java (J2ME) mobile phones. Opera Mobile 11-native, stand-alone browser – will be compatible with Android, Symbian, Windows 7 (I think tablets) and MeeGo.

You can download free from the browser in the device app store (it may not be true for all) or browser on m.opera.com. Then let us know what you think about the new Opera Mini and Opera Mobile.

IPhone App under fire from Gay groups-Wall Street Journal (blog)

Gay rights activists call for Apple to, delisting an iPhone app by an organization that says it wants rid of people of "unwanted homosexuality," that the program against the tech giant guidelines for what can be sold in the App store is charging.

The free app is provided by Exodus International, a Ministry group that "homosexual tendencies cites as one of the many who are experiencing cases humanity conditions," according to its website. The app contains updates from the group, as well as an overview of upcoming events in which pastors, advisors and others can be trained. Exodus also contains the stories of people who write that the service released them "from the bondage of unwanted persons of the same sex attraction."

Gay rights groups such as truth wins out have organised an online petition for Apple to remove the app from the storage; Monday afternoon the petition had over 100,000 signatures. The petition says the app is "hateful and bigoted", and the message that homosexuality is something to overcome would be particularly harmful to young people. "It makes, legitimises and fuels the ostracism of LGBT youth by their families," says truth wins out.

The groups cite Apple guidelines which say apps cannot be "offensive, narrow-minded or likely to place the targeted individual or group in harm's way."

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and a spokeswoman for Exodus said that the Organization has received no communication from Apple about the app. "our hope is that Apple is the application to stay on the iTunes platform will toestaandie represents a tolerance of religious beliefs, "said the spokeswoman."Our mission is to provide people live their entire life, including their sexuality, in accordance with their faith to help. "

From a technology point of view the debate raises important questions about Apple's model for the App store. The technology giant has embraced a model in which the tight checks what is being sold at the shop-in contrast to the Google Inc. 's Android market, where almost anything goes.

The guidelines put Apple in the position of judging what is offensive — a precarious spot when sensitive issues like gay rights and religion are involved. In the past, Apple has removed other apps when many people complained about their content; the Guardian points out that an app called Manhattan Declaration against gay rights and gay marriage was withdrawn from the store last year.

Facebook has also come under fire over content and offensiveness. But Facebook in general are down on the side of the promotion of the speech, and of Exodus International maintains a page on the site, social networks, apparently without incident.

Apple probably would not be faced with such questions about apps in the store as it took a similar to Google or Facebook's attitude, but that is the price that Apple charged for curating products for customers.

Also, it seems less likely that Apple would see this control if it doesn't, well, Apple. After all, an opportunity for the international of Exodus app largely the same content that is available on the website of the group. But put it on a hip platform like the iTunes store and link it to a Apple logo, and it's a different ball game.

Eclipse sings the melody of the open-web: no frame, no problem-the register

Eclipse Foundation Executive Director Mike Milinkovich wants to make one thing perfectly clear: project Orion is the eclipses.

Project Orion is the effort to the development of the browser, run the Eclipse Foundation, but it has nothing to do with the Eclipse framework, Workbench, favoring the enterprise Java developer for connecting many different third party tools into the framework of a common and open. Orion is not crowd out the Eclipse framework to the browser, and does not make the IDE in the clouds. Nor is built on the same language as the Eclipse. Orion is built on JavaScript, while Eclipse is mostly written in Java.

Orion focuses on building JavaScript, with HTML5 and CSS applications for mobile web and app stores from the inside of the browsers from Apple, Google, Mozilla and Microsoft.

It seems that there is no sign inside Milinkovich his powerful organisations, who say that I don't understand why Eclipse's project Orion. If you don't get Orion, "it just means that you are not the correct audience Orion," says The reg.

In the ten years since IBM helped establish the Eclipse in 2001 Eclipse made a name as a framework for tool from IBM, Oracle, CA and SAP.

From time to time on the Web, Eclipse was moved. The plugins for languages such as Ruby on Rails and PHP. And he was on the Web tools project, which includes tools for JavaScript development, JavaServer Faces, and Enterprise Java Beans, as well as tools for working with XML, XML schemas, XSL and HTML.

Project organization is training with tools for server-side Java, BI, dependent on the data and applications to the desktop. But Eclipse sprawled as more and more projects are added: from the seven million lines of code in 2006 to 33 million rows in the last year of issue. It is not something you can stuff into the browser.

What is Orion, if this is not an Eclipse? And why is the eclipses turned his attention to the mobile web and app stores?

Orion is to attempt to deliver an integrated platform for building the open Web with HTML5, Javascript, CSS and other technologies, Milinkovich.

Orion to supply more and more JavaScript and HTML tools on the client. Its focus is on building collaboration space for the users of these tools. The first part of the server side was delivered as a beta developers test Monday: Orion hub, Equinox OSGi server built in Java, where to register and create a workspace. Server and client to talk to each other using peaceful API. The Beta version will come as Eclipse is holding its annual EclipseCon in Santa Clara, California.

According to Milinkovich tools that plug the Orion through a browser you can make changes to the code or artifacts on the site and their work reflects across all devs on the project.

This is reminiscent of the style of the creators of the IDE spin Borland Software: development cooperation team to justify the sale of big, fat client, with the IDE to the team server in the server with the changes and the reservation code, flow control and "the improvement of productivity".

Marketing types with this line, cyber crime, and head of app dev bought it, and you get stuck with bad IDEs the encoding that he hated, and every time it's used.

Eclipse helped kill companies such as Borland and forced a realignment of the tools of the market, because his framework code open-source and is freely available. It ended the lock the document to the project by trying to apply the above developers, and partners through their closed and bulky IDEs.

Orion is different. Or install on your PC. It runs in the browser, while the third-party tools to connect via the browser. Milinkovich says that all creators plugin can hook into Orion with a few lines of JavaScript code and a URL for the connection to the server. Building a plugin for working with the Eclipse requires more knowledge of the Eclipse code base. Orion client works in Chrome, Firefox 3.6 and 4.0, Internet Explorer 8 and 9 and Safari 5 and integrates with the browser, such as tabs, bookmarks, sharing URL.

RIM: Bernstein sees slowing earnings overseas-Barron's (blog)

AnalystSanford Bernstein Pierre ferragu today reiterated an Underperform rating on shares of Research in Motion (RIMM), writing"BlackBerry a brand", and that the benefits of growth in sales abroad starts to go away.

RIM Ferragu expects to report "a good quarter" when it becomes 4th fiscal quarter results this Thursday, after the market close. The forecast for the first fiscal quarter will probably also be positive, thinks. Ferragu is modeling 5.7 billion turnover, at the high end of the forecast of RIM for 5,5 billion at 5.7 billion.

However, for the entire year, he sees $ 23.4 billion, below the consensus of $ 23.8 billion. Based on surveys conducted by Bernstein and a company called Crowd sciencelast year, Ferragu believes only 43% of BlackBerry owners would stick with a BlackBerry than moving to another platform of phone, compared to 92% of iPhone owners of Apple (AAPL) and 87% of the Googleowners (GOOG) "Android"-based phones.

In addition, growth overseas (i.e., outside North America) 98% of RIM may slow as parts of the story reveal: he sees "buyers first" in Europe, which have been moving to smartphones, becoming less of a force as "buyer's market for the first time is mechanically set to smartphone users ridursie as they become more experienced." RIM "momentum" in Europe is already under HTC and of Samsung (SSNLF), he believes.

HTC and other manufacturers can predict "ramp up" cheap Android phones that will challenge RIM in this segment of the market abroad, which he believes. "We expect EPS to peak this year at $ 6.31 and in the context of declining earnings, beyond fiscal year 2012," concludes Ferragu.

RIM shares are up $ 1.36, or 2 percent, to $ 62.27.

As Ray Sansom case opens, vigorous defense denies accusations-silncioerudoasatiraemdenisdiderot.blogspot.com

By Alex Leary, writer times
Former House speaker Ray Sansom, confers on the left, with his lawyer, Steve Dobson, in Tallahassee on Monday, first day of his trial.

TALLAHASSEE — with his one-time colleagues working in the Capitol building across the street, former House speaker Ray Sansom went on trial Monday for his role in an alleged scheme to build an airplane hangar for a developerhis lawyer, a charge denied vehemently.

Opening statements highlighted the crux of the case, which has been two years in the making: did Sansom sneak $ 6 million in the budget under false pretenses, in effect, stealing taxpayers, or he was doing a public service, providing funding for a building that could be used by emergency officials in his hometown of Destin during a storm?

"When all the dust settles," Leon County Attorney Willie Meggs said the jury, of course, "what is this building is predominantly an aircraft hangar.

Sansom's lawyer, Steve Dobson said there is "no question" developer Jay Odom wanted to use the building at Destin airport, but he said Sansom had no role in planning since the money was appropriated in 2007.

He said pointedly the jury that it was "perfectly legal and appropriate" to Sansom use education dollars, adding it was a practice of senior legislators to enter home projects in the budget.

Dobson "this happened long time immortal in the legislature," he said.

Sansom, R-Destin and Odom were charged with grand theft and conspiracy to commit grand theft. A third co-defendant, former Northwest Florida State College President Bob Richburg, agreed to testify against the two men in exchange for the charges being dropped against him.

Drama of the day was more than the trial began, almost two years since Sansom, Odom and Mcconnells were accused first of what was said. Both sides are arguing the central points for months in pre-trial Court battles.

Still, with a jury in Court, bets were obvious and opening instructions provide a roadmap of how the two sides will continue in the next week or more.

Meggs brought the jury through the genesis of airport construction, showing how Odom once tried to get funding from the State through the city of Destin. Went nowhere. But in the same year, Sansom place the money in the budget State for a building in the same location.

The Prosecutor said he would use e-mail and other records (in a computer point Richburg was taken to court, wrapped in red tape marked "evidence") to show the projects were the same, which Sansom and Odom cooperated and that plans were changed after the St. Petersburg Times began to ask questions.

"A cover-up ensued after a light was shone on this particular project," said Meggs.

In late afternoon, Destin town Manager Greg Kisela testified that there never was an attempt to get funding for an emergency operations centre at the airport before the involvement of Odom.

Kisela also testified that he went to Odom in 2007 and asked about the budget request (the one that went nowhere, because these types of projects sponsored by the legislature were banned in 2007 due to a poor State of economy). "He said he would not be next lease request and basically he would be repackaged as an educational resource," said Kisela.

Meggs says is evidence of an attempt to hide the project.

Time ran out before the Defense could cross-examine Kisela; What will happen when the trial continues at 9 a.m. today.

Sansom 48 years of age, since one of the most powerful men in the State legislature, sat silently by his lawyer throughout the day, although he nodded in agreement with the points in your favor. To reinforce the image of family man of Sansom, his wife and two of his daughters sat behind him.

Odom took a few seats away, and he and Sansom did not make eye contact.

Sansom smiled when circuit judge Terry Lewis, business preventively before jurors were seated, seemed inclined to limit evidence about the work that took in Northwest Florida Sansom State College on the same day he was sworn in as speaker in November 2008. It was this work that first raised questions about Sansom's budget appropriations.

On the other hand, Lewis appeared likely to allow evidence that 2009 Sansom, landed a job as an insurance agent that should money Odom and told investigators he hoped its debt would be "smaller."

Sansom and Odom has an experienced team of Defense and they were well prepared Monday. The lawyers said they would present numerous witnesses who would have appreciated an emergency operations centre at the Airport (despite what some officials say counties) and that the project would have actually been directly beneficial to Odom had crossed the legislator as initially requested.

As Sansom had a "responsibility" to seek money for projects worth, said his lawyer, Odom was entitled as "American" and a "Floridian" to seek the help of elected officials, lawyer Jimmy Judkins said.

"We present to you that by the end of the case, the evidence is overwhelming that he is not guilty of stealing money and he is not guilty of conspiring to steal money and that his verdict will not be guilty of two charges" Judkins said.

Expect software solutions for Apple TV and 2011 MacBook Pro graphics bugs-CNET (blog)

In Apple's latest round of software and hardware releases got the second generation Apple TV a software update to add more features for HDMI support, AirPlay and surround sound for Netflix movies; However, along with the update a number of people found that their televisions began to flicker, especially if they were using HDMI to DVI adapters.

More recently, is Apple's updated line of MacBook Pro systems an error profiled on MacRumors and discussed in great length on this Apple discussion board thread, where the systems are to stop responding (hang) when under heavy load occurred. Although the machines seem to be carried out, it seems the input to them to be frozen, so users cannot do, and eventually forces the system to restart.

These machines have new hardware in them, including four-core CPUs and brand new Thunderbolt i/o technology, and it is possible there may be a bug in the firmware or software drivers for these new features, which can lead to the problem. The same applies for the Apple TV problems, which is clearly a software problem because they are happening with the latest updates started.

In both situations, have Apple representatives said that they are aware of the problem and working on a fix, which in the form of a software update in the near future to come. In the meantime, if you have problems with these new machines are experiencing consider some potential solutions you can try.

For the Apple TV, you can use an alternate connection to your television to try if you have a DVI to HTMI adapter, but this seems to be the only fix that so far has worked for people.

For the new MacBook Pro is the problem is probably in your display drivers, since most of the crashes are happening when people graphics options in different programs or graphics intensive applications such as games or CAD software. In these cases would you try to start and run your system in safe mode (hold down the SHIFT key at startup) to see if that can be done without the potential for the crash. In addition, you can try the graphics settings in the programs that you use to see if that helps reduce the problem.

In terms of the graphics in the new systems, there may be a problem with the use of the discrete graphics card or with switch technologies. Either way, you can try to test the problem by installing "gfxCardStatus," that a tool that can force the system to use only one GPU and thus prevent automatic switching or the use of a GPU. Try different setups of the GPU with this tool to see if you can avoid the problem.

Finally, an option you could try is formatting the hard disk and reinstalling the operating system. Although the issue is addressed by the engineers at Apple, in the past, some problems have happened due to defective original install, and are resolved by reinstalling the operating system.

Regardless of what you do, make sure you have regular backups of your data to avoid losing your work, and lets hope Apple issues a fix soon. It seems that the engineers work hard to do this.

UPDATE: Apple has released OS X 10.6.7, which focuses on this graphical bug in the new 2011 MacBook Pro systems. The update should be available via Software Update, but can also be downloaded as a manual update of this Web page. Make sure your system completely back up before you apply this update.

Live GFW Live & Xbox to gain new features? -TeamXbox

CVG broke a story about Microsoft?s of possible plans for the ?Games for Windows Live? service and how it can interact at some point in the future with the Xbox 360. An internal three-minute presentation by Microsoft surfaced on YouTube today already and we are here to break it for you.

The video features Xbox Live avatars perform various tasks from gaming activities to productivity. The video explains that Microsoft is of the view that if users they offered information about social networks and instant release be limited Shouldn?t on a single platform. Other information give the idea that a User?s avatar is their ?digital Identity? slides in your presentation. Microsoft sees a future in the avatars on the Web, Xbox 360, and search (bing?) are available.

The avatars of the presentation be seen swiping their hands, new clothes, the access to the friends list with a Kinect type user interface and play select with each other. The presentation concludes with the story ?The future of PC gaming is upon us. Is the question who will lead and will be the consequences? ?

While no specific initiatives in the short video announced it is quite clear, that Microsoft sold a vision of the future where the Windows PC and Xbox 360 closer relations. Games for Windows Live would be replaced with an Xbox 360-like interface that allows for cross-platform game and Kinect controls?

The video raises more questions than it answered. You want to use avatar your Xbox 360 as your ?digital Identity? for Microsoft Windows, Bing, and online gaming? Personally I have been a few times not satisfied with games for Windows Live, I've used it. While easier, you give it messages to contacts from a keyboard on the PC, I find the connection to the LIVE on the PC Isn?t as stable.

Let your voice about this possible vision be heard a connected Xbox 360/PC World in our section "Comments".

The man behind Google Docs on the opportunities in the cloud - Reuters

By Jonathan Blum to Entrepreneur.com

Sun, March 20, 2011 8 pm EDT

From left: Jonathan Rochelle, Micah Lemonik and fuzzy Khosrowshahi

Jonathan Rochelle, 47, knows what Google can do for a small business. As leader of the group for Google Docs product, it is responsible for the development of some software to small businesses most innovative of the giant of the Internet. Google Docs is a spreadsheet Web company he started and sold to Google in 2005. Rochelle also plays an advisory role to the discrete process of Google for the acquisition of the startups.

We spoke with la Rochelle for his advice for the use of Web tools - in your small business and what it takes to get noticed by a business more cools the world. Here are excerpts of our conversation edited.

Insert ad here

Contractor: Many small businesses are not taking full advantage of cloud computing, despite its low cost and a greater convenience. Why?
Rochelle: There is still a lack of awareness on the difference between the computer and installed software locally clouds. With cloud computing, that you can access your documents from anywhere, you don't get a new computer. If you open an Office and you have three employees, there is always a traditional approach to the purchase of three computers and networking at all. With cloud computing, you will necessarily need to buy new computers or their network. Instead, everyone can use their own computers and access to the shared online documents. The old approach will change, but there is a legacy that is making it difficult. One of the things holding computer Web return to become dominant is the plateau. You don't go in a store to buy. People don't know where to go to "buy" cloud computing.

Contractor: What are some tips for small businesses to buy cloud-based software?
Rochelle: After other companies who are using proven solutions is one of the most important things. And, don't use combinations of programs that don't fit well together. So, where you can, you want to paste with a unique company that offers most of what you are looking for. In addition, do not try to match the product exactly to your processes. It's really expensive. If you are ready to change your process somewhat to correspond to a technology that has trusted and credible and working, you can save even more money. It should be little pain to change your process so that you use standard technology.

Contractor: What opportunities business you see for potential entrepreneurs of software?
Rochelle: Niche applications. Management software through a movement of the platform on the Web. As this occurs, all prior software can be re-questioned. There are opportunities for the guy who wrote the application that contributes to a dentist's Office, the guy who wrote the application that you run your hardware, or contributes to a journalist be more effective. The greatest opportunity is offering the best software in these classes of niche on the new Web platform. Web-based software are much cheaper for buyers that traditional software and programmers can be much more innovative, it is useful for a contractor to say, OK, we'll start from scratch.

Contractor: When sizing for potential acquisitions for Google, what you look for - something unique?
Rochelle: We are certainly looking for a kind of secret sauce that it would be difficult for us to start from scratch, but the team is probably the most important thing. People should be passionate about what they do. It is the driver.

Contractor: Tips on the best way to show that you have a good idea and the right team?
Rochelle: Not to present what you think of the buyer or the partner wants to hear. It is just a bad thing to do. A completely honest conversation about where you are directed is a must.

Contractor: How Google come to acquire your business?
Rochelle: In 2003, I was running a business, I started called ITK Solutions that created the management software for major financial services companies. Financial spreadsheets were kind of a little magic, because they gave the business people who were not of the technicians of the ability to deliver cool, automated things like complex formulas, graphics and lots of data. But spreadsheets were inherently locked in a box-, they were on a desktop computer. My partner Farzad "Fuzzy" Khosrowshahi found this idea of conversion from a spreadsheet Web code. There was a very specific financial model at the time where we estimated would take about six months to put on the Web. But he was able to convert a worksheet code in the code on the Web in almost no time. This time, we knew that we were in business together.

Contractor: You addressed Google immediately?
Rochelle: Step exactly. At the same time, we have someone we knew contacted for some tips on one of our other products. And it turns out, it is to Google. Therefore, we define a meeting, but not with the intent to sell. In fact, it is very clear that our product was not something that Google was interested in, but he was happy to help us, on a personal level. So he looked at the concept, we drew pictures of the Board of Directors for him, and it was a good conversation. But not good enough.

If we then showed him the fuzzy logic produces our Web worksheet prototype. And he literally fired computer laptop away. He tried a few complex formulas. And he said, "Wow, this thing works." And then he said: "I changed my mind." I think that interested Google. "And, from this moment, it turns into a conversation about the acquisition.

When browsing the Web, it's as if you have a lot of companies were allowed them to implant a tracking device in his hand and a small camera, recording, where to go and how. And these networks can only follow you in the event that you visit the Web sites that are participating in the programmes. But because nearly every site now displays advertisements and some advertising networks, can watch and record a considerable part of your use of the Internet.

In the theory of network advertising cookies are anonymous; They monitor your browser, not you personally. However, it may be compared to your name, using things like your IP address. Right now, it's more frightening than dangerous. But after the road, they tied the cookies to you more personally relevant and is used to edit things like prices on products.

Are initiatives to stop or curtail this free-for-all: currently the account disable advertising firms, and other online businesses from the monitoring and the sharing of your personal information is being examined in the context of the US House of representatives and the popular browsers like Firefox and Chrome to experiment with "What is the track" in the framework of their respective applications. Unfortunately, how these strategies are still in early beta, negotiation, and still you must use a more thorough defense protection.

How to protect yourself: mail protection from monitoring-not-track settings in the browser and even the laws mandating not-track registers in motion are the strokes. But as long as such measures to obtain some muscles, you can choose from a large monitoring network by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative Opt-Out page. This industry run Web site checks the system for the tracking cookies from participating advertising networks and allows you to opt-out of one or all at once. It does this by setting the "monitor" cookies, which many business networks. Don't forget to visit this web site on each browser you are using.

The next step is to block cookies from third parties and advertising pages. In Safari's Preferences by > security > accept cookies. Click the check box next to "only from sites I visit" to protect. Firefox go to the Privacy tab in the preferences, select the use custom settings for history from the Firefox Will drop-down and annul the accept cookies from third parties.

You can also use your browser's private browsing mode. Private browsing in Safari (Safari > Private Browsing) is not very efficient, since it still stores the cookies. Firefox (Tools > discretion) imposes less, but still allows you to monitor for a given session, and to stop tracking by IP address.

If you want to really browse under the radar, you will need to install additional Browser Plugins. If you want to start, I recommend Safari AdBlock and AdBlock Plus for Firefox. These supplements to block most of Internet advertising and all embedded monitoring. But they don't want to stop all the monitor. If you want to further strengthen its defense, install the Ghostery for Firefox, Safari or chrome; blocks Web bugs, tracking tags and other methods to monitor more than 200 companies.

Really if you want complete control over your browser, try NoScript for Firefox (best browser security and privacy tool, but it takes a little getting used to) and the extension of the Customs safari Plugin. The only problem is, that may interfere with the way the pages themselves.

As the last provisional use privacy protection tool as MacScan to sweep up any extra information system for monitoring (as well as dangerous spyware and Trojan horses).

Flash cookies

Risk: local shared objects are small text files stored in Adobe Flash, which work much like cookies and often avoid another privacy control. They are very common on main pages and often used for tracking.

How to protect yourself: visit the Adobe Flash Settings Manager online limit, as required by Flash LSOs. In the global storage settings on this page, deselect allow third-party Flash content to Store Data on your computer (to get rid of monitoring). Setting allowable storage space to 0 allows you to manually approve new applications for the LSO.

For more control, I recommend Firefox Add-on module BetterPrivacy. This will delete all LSOs when you exit your browser or after a specified time period. Note that if a lot of Flash games, you might want to allow the LSOs for those sites.

You have a Netbook or a laptop sitting at home that you wanted to connect to your HDTV in your living room so you can play videos off YouTube or Hulu? Maybe you still have an older computer that only has an output to an analog video device or DVI, but you would like to start downloading it into a HTPC of sorts, but have no idea where to start? Well, there is a simple Diamond Multimedia solution that will transform one of your USB ports on your computer in an HDMI output that will give you full 1080p video output, as well as the transfer of audio. This device is called the diamond USB PC to TV HDMI adapter. Basically what this device will do for you is convert the video signal from your computer, use your CPU to a GPU and video signal to the adapter through a USB port that thenwill transfer the signal to your video device via HDMI output. I am very curious to see exactly how this product works well as well as what I'll be able to do with it. .. OverclockersClub

Gap Haslam-Ramsey extends into unions of teachers-Chattanooga Times Free Press

NASHVILLE — the gap widened Monday between the Republican Governor Bill Haslam and Republican Senate speaker Ron Ramsey on the prohibition of collective bargaining by teachers even as tea party activists resumed their attacks against the Governor and legislative Republicans who don't back the abrogation.

In a post on his Facebook page, Haslam, who supports a commitment to House about the ability of teachers to bargain with school boards, said Republican and democratic "bipartisan" cooperation in the past year in pursuing changes in State law.

Those enabled Tennessee to qualify for a federal race for $ 500 million to the top grant, Haslam argued in a post borrowed from the Governor's opinion piece, which appeared Sunday in some newspapers in the State.

"Somewhere along the way since then, a partisan tone arose," Haslam, wrote: "there will be differences as the details are worked out, but may not allow the issues that divide us divert the path of reform of education that we are in."

Haslam is pushing for tougher laws for possession of professor and making it easier to create and participate in charter schools. Both accounts are the committees in the House today and Wednesday, respectively.

Ramsey, who is struggling to draw teachers of their collective bargaining rights, subsequently declared analysis Haslam is "misleading a bit" and suggested also the relative inexperience of the Governor, who only took office in January, is coming into play in the Union of teachers.

Republican and democratic legislators last year wanted to race the top changes, which tied reviews student performance to teacher, to "pass on grounds completely different," argued Ramsey.

Republicans voted for it "because they saw it as a real opportunity to change education policy and tie teacher evaluations for testing, something which we promoted for years," he said.

But Democrats voted in favor, Ramsey said, because "it was his friend Governor [Phil Bredesen] proposes it. And paragraph 2, they saw was a way to get $ 500 million of federal money for education. To say that there was a bipartisan cooperation in the race to the top is a little misleading because cooperation was the end result, not the process to get it there. "

With respect to efforts to strip the Tennessee Education Association 52000-member of its collective bargaining rights, Ramsey said that "there is nothing more sacred" to Democrats than "Union".

He said that a "classic" philosophical argument is playing out on "if unions are actually productive for education or an obstacle."

Asked why he thinks Haslam has not joined in, Ramsey said, "that is why I think he's new at work. And he hasn't experienced what I have lived in my 19 years in the legislature. This is not a criticism. This is a fact. I saw teachers ' Union oppose still more common sense reforms, because they saw as a threat. "

Haslam has thrown its support behind the House speaker Beth Harwell, R-Nashville and leaders of the House who improvised a compromise restricting collective bargaining rights of teachers, but not eliminate them entirely.

He did not mention collective bargaining in his op-ed piece, but alluded to it several times, noting that "our local school councils are in a better position to determine how to work with teachers in the basic configuration of remuneration and benefits".

The compromise allows but excludes merit pay and differential wage negotiations.

Also on Monday, leaders of the tea party of Tennessee called on supporters to put pressure on 20 Republicans, they claim they are "waffling" on the Bill on collective bargaining.

They also overflew the Haslam and Harwell, noting in an alert by email/newsletter that Harwell is "in tune with the Governor Haslam, who proved weak in a variety of issues confronting our State.

Tea party leaders of Tennessee said they had been told that 47 House Republicans support a complete ban. The Bill has 50 votes to pass. There are 64 House Republicans, 34 Democrats and one independent. All Democrats appear contrary to the prohibition.

Among those listed as "waffling" were Rep. Richard Floyd, r.-Chattanooga and Rep. Vince Dean, R-East Ridge.

"I don't know where they got their information," said Floyd. "Listen, I support the Senate Bill that is out there."

Dean noted that he is a sponsor of the House version of the Bill.

"They [the tea party leaders] are entitled to their opinions," he said. "As far as I can remember — and I think I would — I haven't cast a vote yet. I don't know how I'm waffling on anything ".

Werner Vogels sees a thousand platforms flowering - InformationWeek

Werner Vogels, a bear of a man of Amsterdam, with his beard, his sport shirt and coat, making him look even more that it is suspended while literally on the run to the cloud connect 2011, an event UBM TechWeb, talking about some things happening with Amazon Web Services Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2).

Objective of the Amazon with EC2 is not to be all things to all people, but stick to provide a basic infrastructure that allows others to choose what they want in the cloud. "More serious applications today have multiple components." "An application will be combining Java code with Ruby code with a suite (Oracle) E-Business and bring something of SugarCRM," he said in an interview.

Amazon Web Services strives to provide a platform where companies can decide to run some of these components in the cloud and others in the company. In the past, he noted, a vendor of the "platform" tend to provide elements that were owners and locked client. Infrastructure of cloud, of the other hand, "is a platform which allows to blend" elements and their execution where you choose.

This is the first time that I heard Vogels designate EC2 as a platform and the platform as a service is one of the forms accepted cloud computing. The term tends to cover Salesforce.com with Force.com, Windows azure platform when you use it to run the tools and services provided by Microsoft and Google App Engine, with its tools and its gadgets provided by Google. But this is not what was meant by Vogels.

Until now, Amazon has no wading in any typical lock-in plate-forme--other that originating in Amazon Machine Images at a time when there were not many alternatives, I would call "light lock-in." Friends can be converted to run under hypervisors other than custom Xen in the Amazon, which will be done systematically, and some time in the future. Amazon Web Services has not produced tools and development kits which, if you use it, make you a permanent part of EC2. Rather, I think, Vogels meant that AWS built on a neutral platform on which different tools and the development of many services can be built.

In addition to Heroku and Engine Yard for Ruby examples, he noted the SpringSource cloud Foundry Java platform running on EC2, as does the platform PHP, PHP fog.

At the same time as third party build options of EC2, Amazon itself is implementing specific services which facilitate its cloud to use as the elastic Beanstalk, CloudFormation and Service of Simple Notification. What is the development environment, the resulting application can make use of these services speed deployment, manage the components of the app and services scale, if necessary, he said.

His comments on this point to stress a fundamental shift going on within the parameter of the Amazon infrastructure. We tend to think that EC2 infrastructure is static, immutable compute cycles attached to static auxiliary services such as S3 storage. In fact, EC2 himself is a rapidly changing environment, offering services more to do with the easiest cloud. She added 43 those services in 2009. Vogels, 50 in 2010, said, and the pace will continue to accelerate.

Locate the AWS and third parties begin to realize with EC2 a most comprehensive mobile development environment. Vogels referred to the example of SimpleGeo, a set of services of location-aware app developers who register for a key to use the SimpleGeo API. Geolocation services would be a natural complement to sit on top of EC2 - notification services for people on the move, services collaboration for distributed teams, temporarily disconnected.

I'm starting to see infrastructure cloud not as all compute cycles but as a core of wounds closely, carefully built basic services that can be used by different clients in many ways. SimpleDB was a prototype but the list of opportunities, as the Outlook for cloud computing itself is infinite.

Think like a service, says Vogels, and the complexion of the infrastructure as a service begins to take on another light. What of the more restrictive definition of the infrastructure as a service, including the well established one of the NIST, I thought that I heard him say that his speech. But it is quickly answered. "We do not ass of rat models of...". We don't want to enter into the business of the platform (but) let thousand platforms bloom.

Download IE9 2.35 million times in the first 24 hours-PC Magazine

The new Microsoft Web browser, Internet Explorer 9, was downloaded more than 2 million times since its release in the Monday night, according to the blog to Blog the exploration of the IE.

The Post continues, noted that corresponds to the 27 downloads every second. The adoption of its new browser doesn't bode well for Microsoft, like Google Chrome has effectively kicked into its market share after years of Mozilla Firefox and the same thing.

IE9 corresponds to many Chrome draws, in particular, the speed and a minimalist user interface. Microsoft also adds some of his own unique tricks: hardware acceleration of graphics and the ability to pin card on the server in the system tray in Windows 7. IE9 also includes State-of-function monitoring of protection that is available, allows users to log on to the list of servers known to their profile for targeted marketing.

The latest version of Internet Explorer, however, can only be run in the last two versions of Microsoft operating systems-Windows 7 and Vista-with a view to achieving its hardware acceleration, use these OSes version DirectX multimedia API. This restriction means that its IE9 's ability to grow market share is limited, but the aim is to get people to Microsoft on the newer operating systems.

Last January, Chrome passed the 10 percent of the browser market share, according to figures from NET applications, while all versions of Internet Explorer slipped from 57 percent in the December 2010 56 percent in January 2011. Firefox has stagnated at about 22 percent, but this browser just experienced significantly better, faster and tmavohnedý update Firefox 4.0, which is scheduled to start in the final form, 22. March.

The depot will not enter complete details, except to say that devices like the iPhone 3gs, RIM BlackBerry Storm 2 and LG Voyager violating patents related to camera dealing with things like image flicker reduction, correction of bad pixels and pixel reduced light shadowing.

As patently Apple, the complaint referred to the patent image flicker reduction essentially claims that Apple "full line-up of Mac computers that incorporates the iSight camera system would be considered an infringement on their IP address." Imperium was awarded the patent in 2011; Apple iSight debuted in 2003.

As Bose can teach business AV how to sell more systems to more profit-Home Theater review

Bose_store.gifHow an audiophile and professional AV, I'm not really a fan of speakers Bose, nor I have ever been in my career of consumer electronics for 20 years. With its massive market share and Engineering Department, well funded, I don't understand why they voice their speakers the way they do-but even his detractors more enthusiasts have to admit that Dr. Bose and his team really know how to sell speakers. I have always said that the most impressive element of Bose is its ability to market on almost all channels-so I'm a fan of business marketing.

See how other AV companies now are rushing to get in big box stores, warehouse stores, stores Apple and online retailers. Bose is already there and already dominant. And Bose have a dozen other channels they skimmed millions of dollars in sales per year, including newspaper ads, print door-to-door, TV infomercials and beyond. They may be the single best multichannel marketing company in the American economy – not just the consumer electronics business.

There is a new place that Bose is leading the way, which is like a finely tuned audio and video retailer. A lot of ink goes to Apple for their massively profitable Apple stores and uber-cool but Bose quietly makes that Costco, target, Wal-mart, Best Buy and unfortunately, many brick and mortar shops specialty AV cannot do-Bose makes a hell of a demonstration of audio-video in the store. Walk into any Mall or local output with a Bose store and simply walk to the store near the home theater demo. Won't take 30 seconds until a well-trained salesman will invite you in and show him your best demo.

The demo is to-the-point, dynamic and well designed. It highlights the strength of its products and drive systems, leaving the weaknesses away from his conscience. More importantly, anyone with a pulse Gets the show if they don't go near the theatre. Even if a consumer couldn't buy a interconnections in the system-start demo so they can tell their friends that Bose is best. And who can blame them for spreading the good news, after being treated so well at the store Bose? More than a manufacturing Executive AV high-level has experienced this level of experience in sales and was left the same way that I was FASCINATED by the ability to sell the value of production of the demo and I-care-to-make-a-sale enthusiasm that you can't in big box stores.

Realistically, I don't think you can expect to get this level of experience in sales and demonstration of AV in Costco like they don't really "sell" anything-they just allow consumers marries discount items that are pre-sold by online publications (like this one and many others) TV, magazines, and other establishments including other retailers. Ironically, if you were a consumer simply buy in price, there is best HDTVs sold on the Internet than Costco, Wal-mart and Target. However the convenience of simply dragging home a new set have some appeal to some consumers. For about 10%, there is probably more a local store that can deliver and setup of HDTV for you in your home, can offer a better guarantee, and possibly a better demo. Ask them what they can do for you on well-known players and would not be surprised to see them offer a good package to win your business. Many specialty shops in California are offering to recycle old CRTs and other sets for consumers who buy a new set. Others offer ISF video calibration for HDTV sets in little or no additional cost. Depending on your needs-it is good to be treated as a customer purchases locally and looking for performance and value.

Apple vs Microsoft: two views on uncertainty-ZDNet (blog)

Security analysts and Windows managers often point a finger at Apple's long-standing place on top of OS vendor Secunia vulnerabilities list. That chart can, however, only part of the uncertainty image assign.

Neil MacDonald, vice president at Gartner Research recently wrote a research note on or anti virus software on Mac OS X and Linux desktops is necessary. (The answer is Yes.)

In a recent blog post says MacDonald that in a number of reports, such as Secunia vulnerability of 2010 rankings, Apple in at number 1, and Microsoft, number 3. This looks very bad for Apple.

However, he says that while the number of vulnerabilities is an important measure, the severity of the vulnerabilities is also important. Comparing the "critical and high-vulnerability disclosure" in IBM's X-Force 2010 mid year Trend and risk report, Apple seems to have the safety improved in the past 5 years, while Windows has gone from 20 percent to 75 percent.

With Microsoft's Secure Development Lifecycle in place and continue to be refined over the past 7 years, why the OS software produced by Microsoft a significantly larger percentage of vulnerabilities rated critical or contains high while other OSs fall?

MacDonald offers some important analysis on the subject. Take a look-see.

So the story is not just about some abstract vulnerability but on how bad it all really is. And anyone who has both Macs and PCs used the real-world difference understands.

For example, works on my Mac, I got infected with malware twice: once in the late 1980s before the malware word was invented, and another time with a macro virus Windows in the 1990s. This is not a declaration of the vulnerability or General invulnerability of Mac OS. Instead, it's just how it has been.

Meanwhile, Apple seems to be making a greater effort to security in Mac OS X Lion. The recently invited security researcher within the fold — something that has never happened before.

Some researchers have high hopes about improvements in Leo.

Charlie Miller, author of the Mac Hackers Handbook and principal security analyst at independent security evaluators was interviewed on Infosec island after his recent victory at Pwn2Own this month. He pointed out that with the release of iOS 4.3, the iPhone now ALSR (address space layout randomization) and data execution prevention (DEP) security. Of course, here's Apple Microsoft, that the arrangements in Windows Phone 7 supports.

Windows has since full ASLR in Windows Vista, he reminded us.

Q: this leads you to believe that the Mac OS X Lion also full ASLR perhaps when released?

A: I sure hope so.  If it has full ASLR, it will be a vast improvement over Snow Leopard.

Watch the full interview: Miller slows down the security situation on Mac OS X and iOS, and talks about the techniques that he used to hack iPhone in Pwn2Own.

Get a Vizio 32-inch HDTV for $ 259.99-CNET (blog)

The Vizio E320VA offers 31. 5-inch goodness of HDTV for under $ 300.(Credit: CompUSA)

Strabismus still on a tiny TV in your den, bedroom or apartment elegantly compact? Here is your chance to Make something bigger on the cheap.

TigerDirect.com has the refurbished Vizio E320VA 32 inch LCD HDTV for $ 259.99, plus around $ 22 for shipment. If this happens to sell out, which seems to be the default this week, try Overstock.com, which has the same model for $ 279.99 plus $ 2.95 for shipping. (Its total out the door is about the same).

Oh and just to cover all my bases today, Amazon has Vizio E320VA new to $ 294.98 shipped. As far as I'm a big believer in refurbished gear, it is probably worth an extra $ 13 to get a full one year warranty instead 90 days included with reconditioned models.

The E320VA offers 31. 5-inch viewing area, four HDMI ports (including one on side-very helpful) and a maximum resolution of 1.366 by 768 pixels-aka 720 p. You should not opt for a 1080p TV instead? With this size, you probably won't find one, as it is almost impossible to discern the difference between the two resolutions.

CNET hasn't reviewed this model. The small number of user reviews in CompUSA are favorable, but on Amazon they are slightly more mixed. See if you can assume that the main complaint. Yep: sound. As with virtually all low end HDTV I've never seen (and heard), the speakers about this probably aren't great.

Even so, if you're in the market for an HDTV and your budget is in the top 300 dollars, this is definitely worth a look. I have a smaller model in my room, Vizio and the picture is nothing less than beautiful. (The sound: yeah, meh.)

Business Bonus: If you'll forgive a little quick nepotism, CNET has a pretty sweet deal, running from now until March 31. When you sign up for a free trial month of Netflix, you can get CNET TechTracker Plus (Windows/Mac) free of charge. This software seriously helpful manager/updater normally sells for $ 29.99.

Sony Vaio hybrid PC to feature Intel Thunderbolt: report-eWeek

Sony may be working on a lightweight Vaio hybrid PC that can compete with skinny minny-Apple's MacBook Air.

The company is according to Sony Insider cooking up a laptop that "consists of two components" and the Intel Thunderbolt technology previously code-named "light Peak" that in February on the new Apple MacBook Pro notebooks, the slightly heftier cousins of the MacBook Air debuted. An i/o technology based on PCI Express and DisplayPort, Thunderbolt was designed as a way of more simply connect a PC with peripherals and more quickly transferring data. According to Apple, is the "12 times faster than FireWire 800 and up to 20 times faster than USB 2.0."

Intel, described in a February 24, press release coincides with the MacBook Pro s release, Thunderbolt of speeds as enabling users to wear a full-length high-definition movie in less than 30 seconds or "back-up a year of continuous MP3 playback in just over 10 minutes."

Two-component for Sony's Vaio, Sony Insider, reports the notebook part of it, contains a Intel Wireless Display, a solid-state hard disk, an i7 processor, HDMI output (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) with support for 3D, battery life of 8 to 16-plus hour, and a total weight of about 2.5 pounds. (The MacBook Air weighs 2.3 pounds.)

The "second component," says the site, which is "what will be unique for this Vaio when connected," contains a separate AMD Whistler GPU with 1 GB VRAM; a Blue-ray disc drive, HDMI output, VGA output, an Ethernet port, a USB port and a weight of about 1.5 pounds.

"Overall, the notebook looks pleasing to the eyes, aesthetically designed in its VAIO fashion; However, we are not quite sure about the purpose of the second part, "declares the site. "The weather reminds me of a Sony marketed back in 2007 VAIO RM series that featured a twin-unit form factor desktop model."

Exactly what Sony has planned is unclear. What is known, however, is that what this device is, it will hardly be alone in with Thunderbolt. According to Intel, a number of manufacturers producing computers, monitors, storage devices, cameras, docking stations and more have announced plans to the technology in upcoming products include.

On 10 March, camera maker Canon joined them, announcement in a statement, "We're excited about Thunderbolt technology and will the new levels of performance and simplicity to the creation of video-market feel."

The Sony Insider report added that Sony is also working on a Vaio notebook running Google's Chrome OS. It's expected to be equipped with a 11.6-inch display, an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 1 GB of memory, a 16 GB multimedia electronic map (eMMC), an ultra-low-power GeForce GPU, support for wireless LAN, fast startup and 8 hours of battery life. Another lightweight, rumor has to weigh in at 2.2 pounds.

Sony invents MLB video game - the daily Evergreen

With major league baseball opening day just around the corner, best players get their baseball kick early with 11 MLB: the show.

Cover athletes, the Joe wall and Sony with the latest installment of their signature not disappoint baseball game.

It's an old saying, "If it broke, not not resolve." Well, Sony took a different approach. You decided to upgrade their game and make it better.

Instead of the approach of hitting buttons, only the game uses the PlayStation 3 analog controls use. The new system makes hitters back on the stick their hitters stride and then to push pull it forward to vibrate. The system adds a new dimension of timing to the beat and the game is realistic.

In the field players can hold the analogue system the stick in the direction of a base to throw. The harder throw, throw the ball way is the another chance is. However, a new feature is that players can cancel a throw, if they release even the ball not.

This allows players and deke opponents to try by feigning a throw pump. It is a minor adjustment, but it is one that adds the authenticity of the game. As beat, the pitching system involves the use of analog-stick. Pitchers, how well they control the pitch and have the opportunity, speed change, by you the analog-stick faster or slower. MLB 11 continue to their popular game mode "Road to the Show." RTTS players create a digital version of itself and developed to a team. The player starts with limited capabilities and begins with their double-A farm team franchise.

A different tweak is that the nature and way players improve their digital player. Previously, points were for good plays, but there were also a number of in-game objectives, the player had to for points to reach. The in-game goals were for a scoring system Milton of Milton was scrapped. Players earn points on every Milton. For example, a 12-pitch strikeout will earn more points when flying from Center on the first place that you see.

I like it because it wasn't for you will punish bad luck. In the final game, players could get smoking four drives, which all have been caught and no points. Get in the game players credit for the ball well beat.

The game features corresponds to the usual process list of a franchise mode and single as well. Players can also their friends or the computer to a home run Derby challenge. The biggest criticism with the game is the lack of change of the predecessors of the game. Errors in the field seem completely arbitrary to be and the running system can always still difficult, especially when trying a runner move, while the other to master, be. However, the almost sport that criticism can be games all said. It's hard to change the formula because the formula is a sport and have no major changes year. 11 MLB: The show did a fantastic job what is quality to improve always a game. The new beat and fields system should keep enough to players on their toes. As PlayStation marketing character Kevin Butler would say, "well played, wall."

Diving in waters deep cloud for Google Apps, Amazon EC2 - CIOL

BANGALORE, India: it was a time where companies like Oracle said, ' he did y nothing called cloud '; However, now all admit that "everything that today is the cloud."

"Cloud has made the task of the single developer and company's lower infrastructure investment as it provides a large pool of massively scalable infrastructure is tenants and elastic in nature","said Rohit Bhardwaj, senior engineer, Kronos.".

He was a session on "Cloud computing diving in waters," deep for Google Apps and Amazon EC2 the first day of the spark it 2011, where he gave to the public practical experience on how to use cloud computing for Google App Engine and Amazon EC2.

He said that Google App Engine, a powerful cloud computing platform, is designed so that it will help developers to create and manage, scalable web applications on the JVM.

"The Google App Engine is a platform for developing and hosting web applications in managed by Google data centers." The Google App Engine is an example of cloud technology as it virtualizes applications on multiple servers and data centers, said Bhardwaj.

Therefore, if a developer is developing a Java on App Engine application, they would probably already know that they can use the JPA and JDO Java persistence API to interact with the data store. It has also shown how to take advantage of the API in the construction of clouds.

Bhardwaj also explained how to deploy groovy on grails on Amazon EC2 request. Amazon EC2 is the platform (AHA) hardware-as-a-service cloud provider of Amazon Web Services. Amazon Web Services also provides software-as-a-service (SaaS) with AWS S3 and database-as-a-service (DaaS) with DB Simple.

He concluded by saying that while the clouds offers many advantages there was still several obstacles, such as security, the protection of personal information, the connectivity, OpenAccess, reliability, interoperability, independence of the CSPI, economic value, the it governance, and policy questions overall limits, when it comes to computer adoption in enterprises of the clouds, which must be addressed.

Four reasons for Firefox 4 to go – and one reason why it can't. "-ZDNet (blog)

"The operating system and application Interoperability

War on the OS really feel like the browser wars in recent years. Microsoft still has most of the OS market, interoperable with other OSes or not, are still a piece of the market share of the browser. Add-on compatibility is more important than the OS compatibility IMO.

Firefox has the most add-ins, so Yeah, it's still my primary browser.

"Speed"

The rate is rising for all browsers, and the latest versions of all of them are lightning fast.

I think we're going to major wall with optimization, however, as they are very similar in terms of performance.

I found that most of the speed differences are now on the manage window and tabs. Sometimes it takes a while IE9 to open a new window or tab.

There are also some problems with memory usage-different browsers use different amounts of memory. In a system with lots of RAM it's nonsense, but something like a netbook, it may be a major problem.

It seems that Firefox 4 today to be better, but practically could not use 3.x at all and completely switched to Chrome for a while. I hate to say it, but Firefox was in fact one of the worst browsers for a while. Lock memory usage, and brings me to the madness.

"The interoperability of the Web"

I had some problems of the current HTML 5 tests, which cause many people to claim that IE is still behind you. They barely even standard and test clouds unrelated things.

So until I see better tests, I wouldn't compare with HTML 5 support.

"Properties"

This is the main reason why I still use Firefox. Czech support to Firefox addon is great.

I like tab grouping, but I am completely convinced that it is not yet stable. Has some problems. It also has some problems with the performance and memory usage, it seems, but it's a great idea, and I hope to improve it over time.

"but all together it's good enough to return users who have moved back to Chrome, or IE?"

It's done for me. I like chrome, but it is not enough to permanently. As soon as it came out of Firefox 4, I tried it again, and I'm sticking to it.

"I think a lot of people like controls readily available lined up in the upper part of the program, even if the use of screen real estate."

You're right. Like a minimalist UI is somewhat a matter of taste. Many people prefer to have everything what is available, even if that's a bit crowded.

"Today, but I'm afraid his case too little and too late, to the tenderer in 2011."

I think that it remains competitive. I'm not like this "If you're not # 1, you're nothing." logic that ZDNet loves to use. I think that Firefox will remain for some time. I think it will be all right for the three major browsers on the market.

Scholarship of the nose-dived almost 11% Japan, leading the significant decline in the Tuesday before the opening of the U.S. Exchange on world markets. HP shares slid 66 cents, or 1.6%, to $40.83 in premarket trading.

Mitel adds video presence to desktop clients-ITWorld Canada

With organizations becoming increasingly testing the use of videoconferencing, Mitel Networks Inc. has made it easy to launch desktop point-to-point video from your client application.

Ottawa-based company said Monday that unified Communicator Advanced 4.0, its desktop client now shows video presence within an enterprise, enabling connectivity with just one click. Availability display as an icon next to the name of a person's small camera.

The idea, said Riendeau Brooks, a manager of Mitel solutions is that it "puts video to the user's fingertips."

UCA 4. 0 adds what Mitel calls "context" for video calls, which is the ability to send a pop-up message to text you want to have someone with video call and explain why you want to connect instead of having to call them.

This accompanies the previous ability to send messages to the context for voice calls.

Another client's main improvement is the ability to show the presence of Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) and Lotus Sametime. Until now the UCA had only telephony connectivity between these applications.

"Organizations that have invested heavily in OCS or Sametime have a path that can go forward with for best of breed" system of communication including Mitel, Riendeau said.

Connectivity presence with the new Microsoft Lync will later this year with an update, he added.

Finally dispersed early UC server now can be linked through peering, which increases the scalability up to 10,000 users.

For users of smartphones, Mobile UC Advanced is limited to Blackberry by Research In Motion. However, Riendeau said customers for Apple iPhone and Android devices are coming this year.

Meanwhile, the customer is free to BlackBerry has been improved by giving organizations the ability to provide pathways for UC users avanzata. Taking advantage of the presence and GPS capabilities, which leaves the user's BlackBerry status change as they move. For example, a status "in Office" move mobile calls to fixed phone, while "home office" might allow only voice but not instant messages.

What is integration of the client with a list of native BlackBerry contacts. Previously the mobile UC client linked to business contacts, but the change now allows users to initiate calls from personal contacts at the level of the PBX, cutting down phone charges.

Riendeau would not say if or when Mitel Customer tablet PC should, other than noting the company is a strategic partner of Research In Motion.

RIM is about to release its Tablet Playbook.

The 10 biggest questions about Apple's (AAPL) iPhone 5-San Francisco Chronicle

Now that Apple's iPad 2 has launched, the next major product of the company to finish is the iPhone 5--or what Apple will call her next iPhone, expected this summer.

While the new iPhone will updated hardware and a new design may be, we are just so interested in Apple's software improvements.

That is where the business smartphone is headed, and while the software from Apple is still for the competition in General, there are a number of areas where rivals Google and Microsoft do it better than Apple.

While the iPhone hardware is definitely sexy, it is software that makes it really an iPhone. So what Apple have planned for the next major version of the iOS software for iPhones and iPads?

We asked a dozen iOS developers what they wanted from iOS 5, and their answers included: a better system of alerts and notifications; more background audio processing--so that the New York Times app news articles could download while you sleep, for example; and potentially "widgets" Customizing your iPhone unlock or home screens.

We would also like to see a much better camera app, and maybe a better photo management app, more like iPhoto for Mac OS x. the iPhone camera is very important, and while third-party developers such as Insta grams have some really cool things, it makes sense for Apple software, the built-in camera.

We expect that some of the usual updates--faster, more memory, new chip, maybe some new hardware features--and a new design for the iPhone 5.

While the iPhone 4 still an attractive phone is, and is still selling, it will be a year old June this year. That's a long time in the smartphone industry, where new phones are constantly coming out. So we do not expect another iPhone 3GS-like "update" of Apple ever again, where it keeps the same phone case design of one year for the next but only upgrades the guts.

This supposed leaked image would be--certainly looks like the iPad 2--or it could be a fake. But anyway, we expect a new design.

The critics have shut up about Apple's iPhone 4 design, and "antennagate" does not appear to have no influence on sales. So we would not be surprised to see the iPhone 4 stick around as Apple's cheaper iPhone model. But we expect at least some moderate updates this year at the high end model.

The iPhone 5 hardware and software is important, but "cloud" on the back-end services are becoming increasingly important for smartphones, and Apple could stand some improvements.

For example: how about letting you sync your phone over wi-fi instead of having to plug in a USB cable? How about being able to access your iTunes music library? How about in order to be able to grab some of your iPhoto pictures of the road?

How to share photos with other iPhone users without email?

Some or all of this functionality may be built in a new service mobileme, which Apple could potentially cheaper or even free. Some may have to wait to be incorporated into the next version of Mac OS X, which is expected to ship this year.

But this is an area where Google more interesting things than Apple does, so it's time to wake up.

RIM, carriers battling on Mobile payment strategies-paidContent.org

Stalled negotiations on how best to implement the promising NFC (near field communications) wireless payment technology in research in Motion BlackBerry phones confirms the age-old battle between the hardware manufacturer and wireless carrier is still alive and kicking.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that RIM (NSDQ: RIMM) and three major carriers — Rogers, AT&T (NYSE: T) and T-Mobile — are having a row over how it should fit on a single chip NFC devices. The chip, which would let users of the phone to pay for goods and services simply by swiping their phone near a reader wireless, Show a lot of promise towards reaching the goal of mobile portfolio and I have been talking a lot from Google (NSDQ: GOOG) in recent months.

See more of our most recent coverage of Apple
or add a warning to cover the future of Apple.

But as with many things, the dispute boils down to control which, according to the report. RIM wants the NFC chip embedded in the device itself, where claims that can be more secure. Wireless operators that is built into removable SIM card of the phone where users could swap into another phone. The real difference is that I would check payments: RIM could set your BlackBerry payment archive, while the carrier would be part of mobile payments of your monthly Wireless Bill, with each taking a cut from merchants.

Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) is probably thinking the same way that RIM, which might explain the conflicting reports in recent weeks, more or less the next iPhone would come with a NFC chip. Google is believed to be working on their own NFC service that presumably is being tested in some markets.

Apple Digital AV Adapter-PC Magazine

Smart cover with Apple ($ 39-$ 69, 4 stars) garnering greater attention within 2 iPad accessories, it's easy to forget about the Digital AV adapter Apple ($ 39). Too bad, because it is another simple accessory that solves problems and creates new ways of using the iPad ($ 499-$ 829, 4.5 stars). Note that I said "iPad 2". While the Digital AV adapter is compatible with the original iPad, iPhone 4 ($ 199-$ 299, 4.5 stars), and the latest iPod touch ($ 229-$ 399, 5 stars), it does not mirror their home screens on your TV as it does for the iPad 2e shows only pictures and video playback. Still, it is somewhat useful for other devices, and for the iPad is a great tool. The price may seem a little high for what is essentially a specialized cable, but there's nothing out there that can do this without an elaborate set-up, for $ 40 seems fair.

Design

White adapter measures approximately 4. 2 inches long and about 0. 3 inches thick, is a little thicker than the sync cable at anchor point. One end is connected to the connection of 30 pins of the iPad and the other end has a HDMI output, along with another 30-pin connector that attaches to your cable load/synchronization. Set up is mindlessly easy — simply plug the charger cable and HDMI cable and the iPad and you're ready. (At the risk of stating the obvious, the other end of the HDMI cable should be connected to your HDTV or monitor.)

Apple AV Adapter

An interesting observation: sometimes when I disconnected the cable, synchronization, the mirror image of iPad's video would disappear from television, which would then look for an input signal and come up empty-handed. Thus, while the 30-pin connector to the HDMI output can be marketed as a port, useful to keep your iPad charged while you glide through presentations on TV, it seems a little more critical. Nevertheless, this issue only occurred a few times. Strangely, he seemed to have little to do with the remaining battery life of the iPad, as he was almost fully loaded most of the time.

If you plan on holding the iPad 2 while playing a game or making presentations, you'll want to be sitting or standing near a wall outlet since the iPad charging cable isn't terribly long. I also recommend using the adapter with a long HDMI cable loose — the more you have, the easier it is to manipulate the iPad, which becomes less gracious when the Digital AV adapter is attached to it.

Performance

The Digital AV adapter produces mirror images of 1080p your desktop, but when you run the video, it defaults to 720 p. When watching video stored on iPad, you can hit a button in the upper left corner of the screen that alternately fill the screen entirely or using letterbox mode. If you're watching YouTube, the expand control in the lower left of the window of the video switches between fill up your television screen or play the video in the YouTube app, which appears in the window of the iPad-shaped mirror images on TV. When the video of 720 p, say a movie purchased from the iTunes Store plays through the adapter on a television screen, it looks very sharp. We're not talking level Blu-ray video, but it is a high-resolution experience. Photos will look similarly sharp, assuming they low resolution. When watching videos of low resolution — say, some YouTube clip non-HD — the results are predictably ugly. Obviously that is not a knock on the adapter — low-resolution images never goes well when he is blown, and there's not much to do about it. That's because the toggle button to fill the screen or return to the mirror-image size is so necessary.

IPod touch (4th gen) iPhone 4 and iPad original all play video and view photos via adapter, but just the iPad 2 supports mirror images. In other words, if you were hoping to use the adapter to play games or view apps on your iPod touch into your television, you can't. iPad apps, games for, say, GarageBand, however, are perfectly mirrored in real time on an HDTV using the Digital AV adapter.

It is important to note that if you have an Apple TV ($ 99, 4-stars), you can use the AirPlay feature on your device iOS to stream video wirelessly to your TV. In other words, for about $ 60 more, you can watch the same video you are sending via cable television, but without wires. However, airplay, and Apple TV does not support mirror imaging, so the Digital Av adapter remains a unique accessory – especially if you have an iPad 2.

Of course, watch the slideshows or videos or games, since the iPad HDTV is very fun, but the adapter is also helpful. Teachers can design lessons and presentations for entrepreneurs their iPads. Is it worth $ 40? For owners of iPad 2, Yes — is a simple, all-in-one (well, minus the HDMI cable not included) that helps you get the most from your tablet and HDTV. For last-gen iPod touch, iPhone 4, and original owners of the iPad, it doesn't seem worth the price since it can make much less.

The final edition of the Khronos WebGL 1.0 specifications-computer graphics world

WebGL defines JavaScript binding for OpenGL ES 2.0 provides rich 3D graphics in the browser on all platforms that support the standard OpenGL or OpenGL ES graphics API. WebGL has the support of large silicon and build the browser vendors such as Apple, Google, Mozilla and Opera, with multiple browsers already expedition with WebGL implementations, including beta releases for Mozilla Firefox 4.0, all feeds Google Chrome 9.0, Opera Preview, and Apple Mac OS Safari nightly build.

WebGL is OpenGL ES graphics Accessibility 2.0 on almost all browsers that support desktop, mobile and embedded platforms and the latest Web development technologies, including JavaScript performance. Web developers to access OpenGL graphics directly from JavaScript and wild mix of 3D with other content HTML, potentially enabling a new wave of innovation in Web games, educational and training applications and graphically rich user interface with more pleasant, productive and intuitive Web site.

A living ecosystem middleware about WebGL provides a wide diversity of Web developers the ability to create compelling 3D content for browsers that support WebGL. These tools include: C3DL, CopperLicht, EnergizeGL, GammaJS, GLGE, GTW, O3D, the OSG.JS, SceneJS, SpiderGL, TDL, the Three .js and the X3DOM.

In addition to the WebGL specification, Khronos has created a comprehensive set of WebGL experiment, which can be downloaded free of charge. Implementers of WebGL-browser may run a test suite and save their completion of the test results in order to be able to specify their implementation as appropriate specification of WebGL.

Microsoft + IE9: Svatější than Apple open site convert? -Register

This is a remarkable turnaround. Microsoft, a company that, more than any other was responsible for the freezing of Web standards, first killing the browser competition, and then update your browser for five years, with the browser, that is-at least-decent.

Internet Explorer 9 combines a hardware-accelerated graphics with the compiler just-in-time for JavaScript and support for some of the new standards, which consists of HTML 5. Also de-cluttered user interface that appears close to the philosophy of Google Chrome: browser gets out of the way Web content or application.

It's not the best browser on Windows. Win every performance test, nor is its support for HTML 5, as extensive as in some browsers. Integration with Windows is strong, as you would expect, and its privacy controls are excellent. Microsoft also has some long-lasting trouble, such as the administration of the primitive downloading in previous versions. IE9 is a download manager, this means that users can easily find their downloads to finish. IE9 is generally good, that using a different Web browser is no longer a clear choice.

The interesting question is "Why"? Microsoft was simply so pissed off that expanded market share for IE that has decided its best efforts to reverse the trend? It is a strategic step unobtrusively to promote Bing search, Bing maps, Microsoft and other Internet services? Or Microsoft experienced a sudden transition to web standard religion?

Remember that the press briefing at Microsoft TechEd Europe around ten years go when asked about the future of IE. The answer I got was that Microsoft, in a position to deliver rich HTML experience users, requested that future investment should focus on the integration of applications with Web services.

A side effect, which Microsoft mentioned, would increase the Windows lock-in one of the reasons why Microsoft competed vigorously with Netscape in the 1990s was that concepts such as Netscape webtop, hosted a workspace browser, the host operating system threatened to neopomíjet. Beat Netscape, and then cold HTML Microsoft protect their application platform.

Today Microsoft has reversed its position and works to Firefox browser almost identical with the native application. Vice Dean Hachamovitch in IE9 Edition notification writes: "with IE9, consumers can keep your Web site to the center of their browsing, the PIN is on the main panel and the interaction with them as they make applications with hardware accelerated HTML5Vývojári can use the same markup across the browser to add a new class of Web experiencethat's more apps than servers. "

Microsoft is not primarily to support Bing or compete with Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. What makes more sense the company recognizes that it must have a wide range of platform alongside Windows succeed in diverse world of mobile devices, and increasing the number of Mac computers and that his efforts.NET and Silverlight are not capable of this wide range of platform.

It seems that in the IE team.NET. Microsoft Professional Developer Conference in Seattle, Washington in the last year, Microsoft Articulated its Internet platform strategy, while hardly ever mentions the browser plugin Silverlight. Further evidence is that Microsoft has all but dropped support for the XBAP INTEGRATION, XAML browser applications Windows host with the desktop.NET Framework. XBAP INTEGRATION are currently disabled in the Internet zone by default and only work in Windows networks.

It may be significant that at the same time, when Microsoft became an advocate of HTML 5, Apple, randomly, or design, it updates its iOS mobile operating system in a manner that protects the benefits of the native application by disabling compiler just-in-time JavaScript for HTML 5 applications, which are held on the home screen.

Apple wins If developers focus their platform alone. Microsoft WINS if the developers focus on Windows only; But it is not a viable strategy, so it is better to promote common standards.

In a sense then Microsoft embrace HTML 5 is a sign of weakness, not strength. At the same time is a significant achievement and one that will increase the browser platform for the entire industry.

Microsoft's browser share may decline, but IE is still the most popular browser globally and will always be popular amongst the enterprise admins group because of its integration with a management tool for Windows. The appearance of the IE9 will be real change on the reach of modern browser hosted applications.

That said, Microsoft as a whole is not United on this issue. It's strange, for example, that the issue at the same time, the developer team has completed the IE9 Beta 2 for Visual Studio LightSwitch, which is designed for rapid development of database applications. LightSwitch goals of Silverlight, and while it's impressive product in a way, it would make sense if it built more HTML applications that run across multiple devices.

LightSwitch illustrates how it is hard to tell the Microsoft strategy. At the same time has several strategies. However, the initiation of the IE9 is crucial moment in the history of the company, leaning from pure clients and toward interdisciplinary Web standards. ®

Starwatch consumer | Netflix wants an exclusive; Apple tweaks game purchases ...-Kansas City Star

Netflix content

Netflix Inc. is trying to buy the Internet streaming rights to "House of Cards," a 26-episode drama starring Kevin Spacey, before the series is displayed on a television network. If the deal is finalized, it would be a bold step in providing its own original content to mark her 20 million subscribers. Netflix currently offers more than 20,000 titles in its streaming library, but most of them are previously aired TV shows and older movies. Should the right to "house of cards" win, Netflix would emerge as a more serious threat to pay-TV channels such as HBO.

Apple tweaks

Apple Inc has changed how purchases within the iPhone and iPad games be authorized after customers complained that their children were racking up hundreds of dollars in costs. The problem was that after a user iTunes password entered on a device, the device will not be prompted for the password again for 15 minutes. All purchases, or in the iTunes store or within, kid-friendly games such as "the the Smurf Village," by without a new password.

Data beams

AT&T is placing a limit on the amount of data that are home Internet subscribers in a month. AT&T depicted the announcement as an attempt to curb "data hogs", but it might help the company in the long term an income stream preserved as people shift to Internet-based TV services.

AT&T said it will start charging extra after subscribers over 150 gigabytes in a month, an amount which it said only 2 percent of the subscribers. AT&T said that the average monthly consumption for DSL customers is 18 GB. For U-verse, a faster version of DSL available in some areas, will the monthly CAP 250 gigabytes.

Scanners defended

Two Transportation Security Administration officials, witnesses before skeptical House members on Wednesday, said machines at airports imaging software that enables images from is stored, saved or sent. The officials also said his "backscatter" advanced imaging machine was safe, emit in one screening a low level of radiation similar to a dose of 2 minutes of flying in an airplane at 30,000 feet.
