Captain America: 19 save super soldier the day July - MMOMFG (blog)

With the upcoming film Captain America, it is no wonder that is a video game has released are to go along with it. Captain America: Super soldier will be offered to Xbox 360, Wii and the DS platforms on the PS3. Joystiq reported that the game is expected to be on 19 July, the three days before the movie is released to be. As with the most game adaptations of films, most likely not the best are this one it could be given to later release. It seems like film get games pushed too early and ironed many wrinkles not have out a chance get. But then again, Sega is at the top of this, so it can be entertaining.

Now the screens decent graphics and some fun looks quite promising, with some taking place Nazi roughhousing. But then again, a lot of things can a look pretty when on the perpendicular (read: bad self-shots for MySpace). We have to wait to see if this game and movie, July will be the value of every time and money.

Do not cut the cable until you read this-Chicago Tribune

• You are essentially choosing, say, Vudu versus Amazon vs. iTunes, which is difficult to do when their prices and contents may vary, depending on its agreements with the studios.

• The shows are available approximately 24 hours after they air on TV, then you must notify your friends not to speak of a show that you haven't seen yet.

• The video is compressed, full HD mode is not likely. But with rented and acquired shows, quality is still good — DVD quality or better.

• When something lacks, there's nobody to ask for help. You must read books, search the Web for answers to their problems, wade through Web forums asking questions, checking back later to see if your questions were answered. Meanwhile, your TV viewing is overturned.

Apple TV

Pro: of the three boxes that we tested, it is easier to configure and use.

CON: unable to acquire video iTunes of Apple TV; you have to use your computer to purchase and download content to Apple TV.

Boxee box from D-Link

Pro: comes with a Web browser, easily bringing the Internet to the TV. That makes it better for those who don't mind digging around all the videos that the Web has to offer and see it on the TV screen. Additionally, Vudu movie service is not available on Apple TV or Roku.

Cons: much of the content is really a simple link to a site like crackle.com, so you end up using the TV to show video Web Web resolution.

Roku

Pro: Amazon and Hulu Plus compare very well to iTunes of Apple TV's Hulu Plus lets you watch many shows today.

Cons: it cannot stream video from your computer, so that clip on your hard disk of 80 Grandma's birthday party? You cannot use Roku that play on your TV.

What you need to switch

• An indoor antenna that amplifies TV signals, such as 1440 RCA, at around $ 40. It can lie flat on a table or hang on the wall and connects to TV to bring HDTV and other signs of TV stations nearby. Warning: lightning and other conditions can affect how well come the signs and the construction of their House, the location and proximity of tall buildings or high ground will affect the performance of the antenna. You may have to keep trying until you find one that antennas work. Bonus: the HDTV signal is no longer being compressed by your cable/satellite box, so that the image will be too.

• High speed Internet, for, say, $ 50 per month.

Signature • Netflix ($ 7.99 per month) or Hulu Plus ($ 7.99 per month) or both (about $ 16 per month).

• An Internet TV box, Apple TV, Roku and Boxee box. It displays your signature on your TV. His sons PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 (spend an extra $ 30 to $ 40 for the remote that works with these videogame systems) will work too great, but good luck share it among players and observers of the TV at home.

• Computer, preferably a laptop that will be in the same room as the TV is connected to the Internet.

You should change?

Somehow, cable can actually be cheaper — and less of a headache — than going without for example, if you watch a lot of different TV shows, your cable bill will be cheaper than using Internet TV to subscribe to the shows you want to watch.

If you and the kids want to watch TV on the Internet at the same time, good luck: "hardly anyone has enough bandwidth to make streaming for more than one device at the same time," notes David Wertheimer, CEO and Executive Director of the Entertainment Technology Center at the University of Southern California. "The hype ' cable-cutting ' is totally exaggerated. "

Hands on Opera Mobile, Opera Mini 6 11-CNET (blog)

Opera Mobile is optimized for the tablets. We tried it on the Motorola Xoom.(Credit: Opera)

Opera last week announced it would launch two new mobile browser at CTIA – Opera Mobile and Opera Mini 6 11 – but when it came to the new and improved features, mostly silent.

We're lucky to get into the hands of the Assembly Preview before performances and can share much more about what is in store for the Opera in mobile phones and tablets.

Starting with the interface, the browser Opera Gets a bump on the sophistication of the already graphically rich display. Opera faithful have some subtle changes--to give up his header shaved the Opera browser, icon settings changed in the Opera "O" icon, and search engine selector also stepped into the search field.

The sharing menu shortcut is a new feature to hit duo of the browser. Press the "O" icon screen options, arrives. In addition to bookmarks, history, settings, downloads, and so is the ability to share via email, text, Twitter, Facebook and other social networks.

You can also pinch zoom across the Board on all compatible devices supported by both versions of the browsers. Click to zoom in before sometimes had to. Opera says that strengthened also scrolling, panning and zooming.

Opera is also jumping on the Tablet crazy tuning Mini and mobile for a larger screen of the tablet. The Motorola Xoom (running Android 3.0 honeycomb) that it loaded, Opera Mobile looks almost the same as on Android smartphone, except that the navigation bar moves up.

Overall Opera worked quickly and smoothly, with only two exceptions. The Opera had no problem loading Web pages, but we found (Chow.com) whose loading width must have confused a browser because the image of rhythmically pulled back and then expanded, until we're tapped. (Chow.com is part of CBS Interactive, which also publishes CNET.) Further, while the problem is that Opera Mobile has not been properly loaded the Web page we need to verify at CNET public Wi-Fi. We had to open the default browser, before we can take advantage of the Opera. It is a challenge for Opera for years, and one space in its service, which does not affect most people, demonstrates the weakness of that browser of this caliber should.

Opera Mini 6-faster, more condensed version, the proxy will be available on Android, BlackBerry, Symbian/Series 60 and Java (J2ME) mobile phones. Opera Mobile 11-native, stand-alone browser – will be compatible with Android, Symbian, Windows 7 (I think tablets) and MeeGo.

You can download free from the browser in the device app store (it may not be true for all) or browser on m.opera.com. Then let us know what you think about the new Opera Mini and Opera Mobile.

IPhone App under fire from Gay groups-Wall Street Journal (blog)

Gay rights activists call for Apple to, delisting an iPhone app by an organization that says it wants rid of people of "unwanted homosexuality," that the program against the tech giant guidelines for what can be sold in the App store is charging.

The free app is provided by Exodus International, a Ministry group that "homosexual tendencies cites as one of the many who are experiencing cases humanity conditions," according to its website. The app contains updates from the group, as well as an overview of upcoming events in which pastors, advisors and others can be trained. Exodus also contains the stories of people who write that the service released them "from the bondage of unwanted persons of the same sex attraction."

Gay rights groups such as truth wins out have organised an online petition for Apple to remove the app from the storage; Monday afternoon the petition had over 100,000 signatures. The petition says the app is "hateful and bigoted", and the message that homosexuality is something to overcome would be particularly harmful to young people. "It makes, legitimises and fuels the ostracism of LGBT youth by their families," says truth wins out.

The groups cite Apple guidelines which say apps cannot be "offensive, narrow-minded or likely to place the targeted individual or group in harm's way."

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and a spokeswoman for Exodus said that the Organization has received no communication from Apple about the app. "our hope is that Apple is the application to stay on the iTunes platform will toestaandie represents a tolerance of religious beliefs, "said the spokeswoman."Our mission is to provide people live their entire life, including their sexuality, in accordance with their faith to help. "

From a technology point of view the debate raises important questions about Apple's model for the App store. The technology giant has embraced a model in which the tight checks what is being sold at the shop-in contrast to the Google Inc. 's Android market, where almost anything goes.

The guidelines put Apple in the position of judging what is offensive — a precarious spot when sensitive issues like gay rights and religion are involved. In the past, Apple has removed other apps when many people complained about their content; the Guardian points out that an app called Manhattan Declaration against gay rights and gay marriage was withdrawn from the store last year.

Facebook has also come under fire over content and offensiveness. But Facebook in general are down on the side of the promotion of the speech, and of Exodus International maintains a page on the site, social networks, apparently without incident.

Apple probably would not be faced with such questions about apps in the store as it took a similar to Google or Facebook's attitude, but that is the price that Apple charged for curating products for customers.

Also, it seems less likely that Apple would see this control if it doesn't, well, Apple. After all, an opportunity for the international of Exodus app largely the same content that is available on the website of the group. But put it on a hip platform like the iTunes store and link it to a Apple logo, and it's a different ball game.

Eclipse sings the melody of the open-web: no frame, no problem-the register

Eclipse Foundation Executive Director Mike Milinkovich wants to make one thing perfectly clear: project Orion is the eclipses.

Project Orion is the effort to the development of the browser, run the Eclipse Foundation, but it has nothing to do with the Eclipse framework, Workbench, favoring the enterprise Java developer for connecting many different third party tools into the framework of a common and open. Orion is not crowd out the Eclipse framework to the browser, and does not make the IDE in the clouds. Nor is built on the same language as the Eclipse. Orion is built on JavaScript, while Eclipse is mostly written in Java.

Orion focuses on building JavaScript, with HTML5 and CSS applications for mobile web and app stores from the inside of the browsers from Apple, Google, Mozilla and Microsoft.

It seems that there is no sign inside Milinkovich his powerful organisations, who say that I don't understand why Eclipse's project Orion. If you don't get Orion, "it just means that you are not the correct audience Orion," says The reg.

In the ten years since IBM helped establish the Eclipse in 2001 Eclipse made a name as a framework for tool from IBM, Oracle, CA and SAP.

From time to time on the Web, Eclipse was moved. The plugins for languages such as Ruby on Rails and PHP. And he was on the Web tools project, which includes tools for JavaScript development, JavaServer Faces, and Enterprise Java Beans, as well as tools for working with XML, XML schemas, XSL and HTML.

Project organization is training with tools for server-side Java, BI, dependent on the data and applications to the desktop. But Eclipse sprawled as more and more projects are added: from the seven million lines of code in 2006 to 33 million rows in the last year of issue. It is not something you can stuff into the browser.

What is Orion, if this is not an Eclipse? And why is the eclipses turned his attention to the mobile web and app stores?

Orion is to attempt to deliver an integrated platform for building the open Web with HTML5, Javascript, CSS and other technologies, Milinkovich.

Orion to supply more and more JavaScript and HTML tools on the client. Its focus is on building collaboration space for the users of these tools. The first part of the server side was delivered as a beta developers test Monday: Orion hub, Equinox OSGi server built in Java, where to register and create a workspace. Server and client to talk to each other using peaceful API. The Beta version will come as Eclipse is holding its annual EclipseCon in Santa Clara, California.

According to Milinkovich tools that plug the Orion through a browser you can make changes to the code or artifacts on the site and their work reflects across all devs on the project.

This is reminiscent of the style of the creators of the IDE spin Borland Software: development cooperation team to justify the sale of big, fat client, with the IDE to the team server in the server with the changes and the reservation code, flow control and "the improvement of productivity".

Marketing types with this line, cyber crime, and head of app dev bought it, and you get stuck with bad IDEs the encoding that he hated, and every time it's used.

Eclipse helped kill companies such as Borland and forced a realignment of the tools of the market, because his framework code open-source and is freely available. It ended the lock the document to the project by trying to apply the above developers, and partners through their closed and bulky IDEs.

Orion is different. Or install on your PC. It runs in the browser, while the third-party tools to connect via the browser. Milinkovich says that all creators plugin can hook into Orion with a few lines of JavaScript code and a URL for the connection to the server. Building a plugin for working with the Eclipse requires more knowledge of the Eclipse code base. Orion client works in Chrome, Firefox 3.6 and 4.0, Internet Explorer 8 and 9 and Safari 5 and integrates with the browser, such as tabs, bookmarks, sharing URL.

RIM: Bernstein sees slowing earnings overseas-Barron's (blog)

AnalystSanford Bernstein Pierre ferragu today reiterated an Underperform rating on shares of Research in Motion (RIMM), writing"BlackBerry a brand", and that the benefits of growth in sales abroad starts to go away.

RIM Ferragu expects to report "a good quarter" when it becomes 4th fiscal quarter results this Thursday, after the market close. The forecast for the first fiscal quarter will probably also be positive, thinks. Ferragu is modeling 5.7 billion turnover, at the high end of the forecast of RIM for 5,5 billion at 5.7 billion.

However, for the entire year, he sees $ 23.4 billion, below the consensus of $ 23.8 billion. Based on surveys conducted by Bernstein and a company called Crowd sciencelast year, Ferragu believes only 43% of BlackBerry owners would stick with a BlackBerry than moving to another platform of phone, compared to 92% of iPhone owners of Apple (AAPL) and 87% of the Googleowners (GOOG) "Android"-based phones.

In addition, growth overseas (i.e., outside North America) 98% of RIM may slow as parts of the story reveal: he sees "buyers first" in Europe, which have been moving to smartphones, becoming less of a force as "buyer's market for the first time is mechanically set to smartphone users ridursie as they become more experienced." RIM "momentum" in Europe is already under HTC and of Samsung (SSNLF), he believes.

HTC and other manufacturers can predict "ramp up" cheap Android phones that will challenge RIM in this segment of the market abroad, which he believes. "We expect EPS to peak this year at $ 6.31 and in the context of declining earnings, beyond fiscal year 2012," concludes Ferragu.

RIM shares are up $ 1.36, or 2 percent, to $ 62.27.
